1909 Wintergreen Tac Pin
This pin honors Wintergreen, winner of the 1909 Kentucky Derby with jockey Vincent Powers up. Wintergreen had a difficult start after having been bumped early on; but he recovered and won, almost cantering across the finish. Wintergreen was bred and owned in Ohio by Jerome Bristow Respress, making him the first Derby winner from Ohio. He was trained Charles Mack. Sadly, Wintergreen died in 1914 after a fire consumed his Cincinnati stable accommodations.
A Kentucky Derby Museum Exclusive.
Pin measures 0.75 X 1”.
