1995 Thunder Gulch Tac Pin
This pin honors Thunder Gulch, winner of the 1995 Kentucky Derby with Racing Hall of Fame jockey Gary Stephens up. Thunder Gulch raced quickly and easily to win over Talkin Man with a furlong remaining; he would go on to lose the Preakness but not the Belmont. After his career, Thunder Gulch retired to an excellent stud in Versailles, Kentucky. In 2001 he was voted Leading Sire in North America. Thunder Gulch was bred by movie producer and horse enthusiast Peter M. Brandt, owned by Michael Tabor and trained by U.S. Racing Hall of Fame inductee D. Wayne Lukas.
