$5.00

This pin honors Baden-Baden, who won the 1877 Kentucky Derby over Leonard early in the race at the backstretch with jockey William Walker up. Baden-Baden was bred by A. J. Alexander at the Woodburn Stud Farm in Woodford County, KY and was later sold to Daniel Swigert of Elmendorf Stud Farm in Fayette County, Kentucky. He was trained by future U. S. Racing Hall of Fame inductee Edward D. Brown. Although he won several other races after the Derby, an ankle injury forced Baden-Baden into retirement
